Giridih, Jharkhand: The launch of three dedicated digital platforms to document and preserve the centuries-old traditional healing knowledge of Jharkhand’s tribal communities received prominent coverage in The Times of India on 9 October 2026.

The newspaper reported the inauguration of Hodopathy.org, Hodopathy.in and Hodopathy.com by environmentalist Rajeev Singh at his residential office in Giridih, in the presence of traditional healers, community representatives and members of the organising team.

The platforms have been developed to support the documentation of Hodopathy, an indigenous healing knowledge system associated with Jharkhand’s Adivasi communities, and to preserve information about medicinal plants, forest resources and traditional practices.

According to the report, the campaign follows a structured three-phase action plan.

Digital Documentation: Collecting and organising traditional knowledge, including interviews with experienced healers, tribal elders and local experts.

Publication: Preparing a book documenting the experiences of senior traditional healers and information about medicinal plant species.

Training and Research: Providing youth training in plant identification, conservation and documentation, alongside proposed scientific studies with research institutions to investigate the effectiveness and safety of traditional applications.

The newspaper also highlighted the connection with Hodopathy Park in Gandey, supporting medicinal plant conservation and biodiversity awareness.

Rajeev Singh emphasised that knowledge preservation must respect the consent, rights and contributions of traditional knowledge holders. He also stressed the importance of protecting the forests and medicinal plants associated with these healing traditions.

The coverage reflects an effort to connect traditional wisdom with digital technology, responsible scientific research and intergenerational learning.

Through these platforms, the Hodopathy initiative seeks to create a long-term resource for preserving indigenous knowledge while encouraging appropriate scientific evaluation and environmental conservation.
